NOVA exterior signage installation begins

Installation has begun on the Northern Virginia Community College’s extensive exterior signage program. Developed by Beveridge Seay and produced by Gable Signs, the new wayfinding system will be completed in mid-September 2010.

The 25th anniversary of the National Rehabilitation Hospital

2011 marks the 25th Anniversary of the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington DC, and also the 25th year Beveridge Seay has worked with NRH! To mark the event, Beveridge Seay is developing graphics to highlight the year-long celebration. Materials include the 25th Anniversary logo, posters, banners, postcards, programs, shirts, and signage for the Herman & Monica Greenberg Skywalk bridge.

Maps: art or wayfinding?

In a recent New York Times article “The World as Their Canvas”, the author Steven Heller describes seminal maps in the history of design and cartography, citing Herbert Bayer’s World Geo-Graphic Atlas and Harry C. Beck’s London Underground map map as “exemplary marriage[s] of information, art and design.” These maps are notable for both their easy synthesis of information and for the creative licenses the authors took. Celebrating 25 years of .com

Who registered the first .com domain? It was a computer manufacturer based in Cambridge, MA called Symbolics, Inc. on March 15, 1985. Amazingly, only five additional companies registered a domain name that year. www.25yearsof.com compiled a list of 75 honorees whose contributions helped shape the Internet culture. A panel of judges will select the final ”.com 25” who will be recognized on May 26. The list is a an interesting glimpse of the very diverse Internet “world” in which we all reside.

The Drug Policy Alliance is hosting its second “re:FORM” art auction and cocktail party benefit on Monday, May 17th at Sikkema Jenkins & Co. in New York City. Beveridge Seay developed the program graphics and it’s great to be associated with DPA and artist co-chairs Donald Baechler and Fred Tomaselli.
